Baby Catch A Ball – 52 Weeks of Personal Genealogy & History -Week 7

I have to say I’m not really sure what my favorite toy was but I do have fond memories of Baby Catch A Ball. She was a Christmas gift, from Santa, discovered early Christmas morning by Sibling who snuck out to discover the treasures Santa left under the tree. I was then awakened and quietly ushered down the hall to be shown my new toy.

Baby Catch A Ball was a revolutionary, battery operated doll who would catch the ball when tossed to her just so. Then she would toss it back. At the time, she was lots of fun.

  4. Ginger, I want to say she came out in the late 1960's.

  5. I received a Baby Catch-a-ball as a gift from my godmother... my parents could not have afforded the luxury. I was about 7 y/o and it was my absolute favorite gift ever! I recall that she malfunctioned and stopped operating rather soon. I was heart broken that my dad could not fix her.

  6. I got her in the 60's. She still plays today. And she still looks beautiful. And currently stowed in her orignal box. She always played, just had to make sure her batteries were in properly.

  7. I had one when I was 3 or 4. She's the first present I recall "asking" for at Christmas, (when I realized that's what you're supposed to do!). I believe she came out in 1969. I wish I still had her.

  8. My mom wanted me to model as a kid and I did a few print ads and commercials. One of the commercials I was on was for Baby Catch a Ball!

  11. BABY CATCH A BALL is the only doll besides one Barbie that I remember having as a kid. I remember having a blast with her, my poodle Peppy and I would take turns catching the ball. Unfortunately, I got home from school one day after a Christmas party Mom had thrown for her night nurses and she no longer worked. The nurses would bring their kids who were not yet in school. But we did have a good year together.
